Guardian Anti-theft Backpack Printed Paper Pattern
You will receive a printed version of this pattern with full pattern pieces, detailed pictures, and step by step instructions on how to make your own Guardian Anti-theft Backpack. It will come in a resealable plastic bag and convenient hanging hole. There is even a full-length how-to video on Linds Handmade Designs YouTube channel, showing you how to make this bag from start to finish if you need any additional support.
Skill Level: This is an intermediate pattern, in that it uses advanced bag making techniques that require the sewer to have a general familiarity with bag making. It requires accurate cutting/sewing and installing a curved zipper which can be challenging for new sewers.
Finished Dimensions: Approximately 11” wide by 5” deep and 11” tall. Straps are cut 40” long and fully adjustable with a convenient grab handle along the top.
The pattern also includes instructions for an optional, removable shoulder strap as well. It features 2 exterior side slip pockets and inside has a slip pocket and 2 pen pockets. This pattern uses binding only on the bottom base on the interior of the bag. The “anti-theft” nature of this design is that the main entry to the interior of the bag is through a zipper that lies against your back.
Materials and supplies needed:
• ½ yard main fabric
• ½ yard accent fabric
• ½ yard waterproof canvas (WPC)
• 1 yard of 17” Decovil light (more if not using WPC for lining)
• 1 yard of 45” woven interfacing (*fabric dependent)
• 20” of #5 zipper tape and 1 zipper pull
• (2-4) 1” D rings (4 if doing optional shoulder strap)
• (2) 1½” strap adjusters (with rounded corners for comfort)
• (2) 1½” swivel clasps
• (2) 1” swivel clasps (*optional for shoulder strap)
• small rivets (*optional)
• 3¼ yards of 1½” webbing for straps/grab handle
• 5/32” Leather hole punch or rotary punch (*optional)
• Rotary cutter (or SHARP X-Acto knife/box cutter)
• Quilting ruler
• Wonder clips
• Removable marking pen/chalk
• (1) roll of ¼” Double-sided tape, Fabri-Tac™, or leather glue
• 1 yard of ½” double fold bias tape (*only if not using WPC)
• 8x11 piece of cork/vinyl/leather (*optional for grab handle and shoulder strap)

When will you ship my order?
We aim to dispatch your order within 2-4 business days. We dispatch orders on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. During sales and busy times it can take up to 6 business days for your order to leave us. Should you need your order quickly please contact us.
Why is shipping so high for vinyl?
All our vinyls, jelly and TPU are shipped rolled, and sent via tracked courier.
Do you offer international shipping?
At the moment we are only ship in the UK. You are responsible for paying any import taxes or fees due for shipments into your country. Import fees, taxes and handling fees from the delivery company are NOT included in our delivery costs. You are responsible for checking the import rules for your country before placing an order.
Why don't you ship to my country?

Are the vinyls, jelly and TPU domestic machine friendly?
On each listing we provide how thick these vinyls approximately will be. They can work on most domestic machines, with the correct feet we recommend a teflon or walking foot on your sewing machine. You may need to adjust your tension on the machine. We also recommend using a bulky seam aid / hump jumper which we sell here
Canvas Cotton-Linen Fabrics
Fabrics which are woven from natural fibres have characteristics and other irregularities in the yarns which are features and not therefore treated as weaving faults.
Custom Printed Bases:
We use a combination of stock images from manufacturers and our own photographs. We have tried our best to represent the colours as accurately as possible. However, we can't guarantee an exact match to the fabrics shown as colours vary on different screens and devices. Therefore fabrics may look different upon arrival. When ordering custom printed fabric, please understand it could vary slightly on different fabric bases vs digital images.
Packaging
We try to use eco friendly mail bags and cardboard boxes. The packaging we use to post your orders is mostly fully recyclable or compostable and we encourage you reuse the packaging your Little Stitcher Sews order arrives in.
